Observation issues
mm single dish observation
 | Focus check: You need to specify
checking for single or dual sideband, because
the USB and LSB
have different frequencies and so slightly different focuses. For dual
sideband observation, you need a compromise to achieve the best focuses at
both sideband frequencies. |
 | Pointing check: You need to specify
checking for single or dual polarisation,
because for some telescopes such as ARO10m, the two polarisation channels is
misaligned a little and so they are looking at
slight different directions on the sky. If you are doing dual polarisation
observation, you'd better achieve a compromise to minimise the pointing
error in both polarisation channels. |
