WISE (Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer)
Launched: 2009 Dec.
Diameter: 40cm;
Field of View: 47' x 47';
Cameras: 3.4 and 4.6um: HAWAII 1-RG 1024 × 1024 HgCdTe arrays with a pixel scale of 2.75 arcsec pixel–1;
12 and 22 um: DRS Si:As 1024 × 1024 Blocked Impurity Band detectors. (simultaneous observation in all four bands)
bandpasses: 3.4, 4.6, 12, 22 um (see the WISE photon-counting relative system response (RSR) curves, λR(λ), normalized to unity from Jarrett et al. (2011ApJ...735..112J):
(left: WISE RSR (blue, green, orange and red for W1, W2, W3 and W4) compared with that of Spitzer IRAC-1,2,3,4 and MIPS (black and gray))
(right: WISE RSR compared with the starburst galaxy Arp 220 and the K2III calibration star HD32174.)
